Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees Unanimously Names Hollingsworth Superintendent

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously named Dr. Jerry D. Hollingsworth the superintendent of Waxahachie ISD. Dr. Hollingsworth will begin his tenure at Waxahachie ISD on Saturday, August 14.

“The Board of Trustees looked for many qualities when choosing a new superintendent to lead Waxahachie ISD,” said Board President Dusty Autrey. “Above all, we wanted someone who can lead WISD through the challenges faced by a fast-growth district and embrace the many opportunities that WISD has ahead. We fully believe that Dr. Hollingsworth has these qualities, and we look forward to seeing what he will accomplish.”

Dr. Hollingsworth comes to Waxahachie ISD from Bandera ISD, where he served as superintendent for three years. Dr. Hollingsworth’s 28-year career in public education began as a junior high and high school teacher, followed by positions as high school principal in Stephenville and Grapevine-Colleyville. He also served as associate superintendent for Burleson ISD. Dr. Hollingsworth holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of North Texas. He and his wife of 25 years, Ginger, have three sons, Wyatt, Lane, and Clayton.

“I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for this opportunity, and my family and I are excited to become part of Waxahachie ISD,” said Dr. Hollingsworth. “I look forward to meeting students, staff, parents, and community members and learning more about the traditions of this wonderful school district. Waxahachie ISD has a reputation of excellence in academics, fine arts, athletics, and career and technical education throughout the state, and I am proud to join this team.”
